Another ingredient that Dr Keyes favors is hydrogen peroxide because its foaming action helps to remove the bacteria from teeth and gingivital crevices. You should not use hydrogen peroxide if you have amalgam fillings. But did you know that it has several uses in dentistry? Make a 1:solution of water and hydrogen peroxide for receding gums.

The oxygen released helps to eliminate the pathogens in the most aggressive forms of gum diseases. If you want to get at the bacteria in your gums , try it this way: brush your teeth , then floss between your teeth , and then swish with peroxide. This way any gunk is out of the way, and the peroxide can get in to the gums more easily.

But, even more importantly, using hydrogen peroxide as a daily mouth rinse , and for that matter even mouth rinses that have alcohol in them, is contraindicated long term, and trying to use over the counter hydrogen peroxide to bleach your teeth would certainly require long term use to achieve any noticeable whitening at all. Be absolutely sure that your teeth are as clean as you can get them. Now, rinse your mouth with hydrogen peroxide. Swish it around like mouthwash for a couple of seconds and then spit it out.
