Should I use mouthwash before bed? A fluoridated mouthwash is best used nightly , after brushing your teeth instead of rinsing your mouth with water. When should I swish with mouthwash ? How long should I swish?


It will be a lot easier for you to scrub off those left-over particles from the hard-to-reach places of your mouth when you use your toothbrush. Fluoridated mouthwashes work best when they’re not washed away by water, so I recommend using those right before bed , after brushing and flossing.

Just don’t overdo it and make sure you follow the directions on the bottle. Best to brush and floss after every meal but of course that is unrealistic to expect people to do that. Rinsing with a therapeutic mouthwash before bed will help keep your teeth free of plaque and cavities and your gums safe from gingivitis.

Whether to use mouthwash before or after brushing depends on personal preference. The average dental routine is as follows: floss, brush and rinse with mouthwash. I am quite sure that of mouthwash does dick all for preventing cavities, though. EDIT: A little bit of internet digging tells me that the best time to use mouthwash is before bed , apparently. However, I am happy to be corrected. This is because children younger than six may not understand the concept of mouthwash and be more likely to swallow it like they would with other liquids.
