Receding gums treatment options depend on the severity of the recession. Surgery is often an option in more severe cases. The pinhole surgical technique for receding gums is a revolutionary, minimally invasive treatment for patients suffering from gum recession. Fortunately, there are a few non-surgical methods available too.

Chertok, a periodontist in Berkeley, a flap in the roof of my mouth was opened (see top left photo for an idea) and used to plump up the recessed gums around one of my teeth.

Just as they do with your own tissue, the allograft is put over the recession area and the gums in that area are pulled over it, he explains, so surgery consists of “cutting the gums open, putting the skin graft on, or the patient’s own tissue, and then covering the graft over with the patient’s gums or whatever remaining gums he or she has. This also creates small spaces where plaque, a sticky film of bacteria, can collect. Left untreate it can eventually cause bone and tooth loss. Many things can cause receding gums ,. Thanks to the breakthrough Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique, Dr. Setya is able to provide an alternative treatment for gum recession that requires no sutures and no grafting. This procedure is gentler than traditional gum surgery , has a very quick recovery time and has been shown in studies to yield uniformly good and lasting.

If a person has tooth recession where the gum is pushed away from the tooth, a gingivoplasty can be done. A gum graft can be done where the tissue is taken from the roof of the mouth (this is called a graft) and then stitched into place on either side of the tooth that is recessed. Has anyone gone through gum surgery where they take gum from the roof of your mouth to replace recessed gum ? I have one tooth with a recessed gum.

The periodontist is suggesting the surgery I just mentioned.
