Temporary filling made pain worse

And call your dentist in the morning. Gaps between the tooth and the filling , even one that is hair-like, can allow external stimulations to reach and irritate the tooth pulp, leading to tooth pain. Aside from being a cause for tooth pain , these gaps can lead to the development of new decay and a passageway for bacteria to infect the tooth pulp.

Few things in the world are as difficult to deal with as tooth pain. Tooth pain after filling a cavity can be especially frustrating. You went to the dentist looking for relief, and sometimes, you end up leaving in more pain than you had when you came to the dentist in the first place!

Our dentist said it would just tide the problem over until next Monday, when he will put in a permanent one. When you put that temp filling in, if the tooth was abcessed it was like putting a cork on a bottle and shaking it. The pressure that built up is what is causing you pain.

If you can get the temp filling out you will probably feel better. They sell scaler type dental instruments at the pharmacy that might help. Getting worse is a bad sign. It coukd be that the pulp of the tooth is inflamed. But do get seen as you dont want to end up with severe toothache and an infection.

The whole side of my face hurts.

Both upper and lower teeth hurt , not just the tooth that received the filling. There is no swelling though and no sign of an abcess. I am using Tramadol, ibuprofen and paracetamol to help with the pain , but it is only temporary.

The dentist put a temporary filling in after cleaning out some of the infection, she then prescribed me erythromycin and metronidazole and tole me to take ibuprofen for the pain. To cut a long and painful story short it is now days since i started on the antibiotics and I am still in ridiculous. Most dentists advise treating these tooth fillings with caution until permanent ones can be applied. Constant, throbbing pain is among the most severe types of tooth pain one can experience, especially after a filling.

Still, considering the trauma your tooth has just dealt with in the process of having a cavity fille it may not necessarily be a cause for alarm. High temporary filling : This is when the dentist put in the temporary filling and they did not smooth it down enough. If the filling is even just a little higher than the surrounding tooth, it can. A filling that extends near the edge of your tooth needs to be treated with care when you floss. Rather than pulling the floss up in between your teeth when you’re ready to move on to the next one, gently pull it out the side of the tooth instead.

But the sad fact is that toothache and discomfort after a filling session at the dentists is quite common. Throbbing pain whenever air comes in contact with the tooth. The usual duration of discomfort is from a day to two weeks with a diminishing pain level over those two weeks, pain after two weeks or in. This temporary crown provides a functional, protective covering for your tooth until the permanent crown is ready, and protects it better than a large filling would.

In addition to preventing damage and reducing sensitivity, the temporary crown will maintain the space that the restored tooth will occupy, as teeth can drift if they are not in contact with each other. It may take some time, but the pain in either case should subside on its own. Oversized Filling or Crown.

If the final filling or crown is even a fraction too big, it hits the opposite tooth with too much force compared to surrounding teeth, which can cause pain after a root canal. Fortunately, this is an easy fix. I was told that hopefully the temporary would last for the three months i was away, and just incase it didnt, i was given a prescription for pain killers to last me till i got back.
