Having a dental infection makes you uncomfortable, it will definitely disrupt your activities because you feel a toothache, and moreover, dental infections that have penetrated the pulp can also spread to the body in other parts of the body.


A periapical tooth abscess usually occurs as a result of an untreated dental cavity, an injury or prior dental work.

Dentists will treat a tooth abscess by draining it and getting rid of the infection. They may be able to save your tooth with a root canal treatment, but in some cases the tooth may need to be pulled. Tooth abscesses are a sign of tooth infection characterized by sharp oral pain and a small pimple-like growth on gum tissue. It then spreads to the surrounding bone. Dental abscesses do not go away on their own.


If left untreated , this leads to severe periodontal disease which is an infection of the bone under the gum. This more commonly known as a tooth abscess and occurs inside the tooth itself.
