Tooth infection sore throat

Will an an infected tooth cause a sore throat? How dangerous is an infected tooth? What causes tooth infection?


A wisdom tooth infection may feel like a sore throat and may even be accompanied by swollen lymph node glands as if you had a common cold. Strep Throat or : Other throat infections could cause halitosis. Bad breath may be caused by smoking, dry mouth (due to medications, ^ mouth breathing or salivary gland problems), gum infections , poor dental hygiene, certain foods (like garlic, curry, fish oils or onions), sinusitis, post nasal drip,.

Tooth Infection is one of the most common causes of Tooth pain and it is seen that in many cases due to prolonged infection or spread of infection we have seen patients complaining of pain in the Ear, below or around the Eye and Throat or Neck pain on the affected side. Two weeks ago I had a severe toothache went to dentist and put on an antibiotic one week later wisdom tooth extracted pain still persists, drainage, foul taste and smell, upset stomach , pain in jaw and ear and sore throat. Spoke to the dentist and was instructed to continue antibiotic and salt water rinses.


Instead of going to see an ENT specialist, you may want to consult a dentist to have your teeth checked for infection. A sore throat is usually caused by a viral infection although something like of them can be caused by a bacterial infection such as strep. Toothache is merely a symptom of being sick. It can cause sore throat , swelling of the gums, neck glands and muscle pains.


There is a dull or sharp pain on the head or jaw bones.

Ulcers can break open and release more bacteria. Your throat problem could very well be related to that tooth. With molar teeth , the roots generally extend up into the sinus area and when they become infected it can also infect the sinus. The tonsils are round balls of lymphatic tissue in the back of your throat.


You have two tonsils, one on each side of your throat , just behind your tongue. Sometimes tonsillitis only affects one tonsil , creating a sore throat on one side. The terrible taste is pus draining from the infected tooth into your mouth , which is then going down your throat. You should get this tooth taken care of asap. The absolute best early treatment for a sore throat is Zinc lozenges.


The moment you notice a sore throat , start sucking on zinc lozenges every hours for the day. This condition, known as an abscessed tooth , requires immediate dental attention 2. A severe and continuous toothache that in a sharp, throbbing or shooting pain in the jaw indicates a possible abscessed tooth 2. The tooth may demonstrate sensitivity to hot, cold and chewing. Bacteria can enter the innermost part of the tooth through either a deep cavity or a chip or crack in your tooth. The resulting infection and inflammation can cause an abscess at the tip of the root. The infection then further reaches to the insides of the mouth and then the neck and throat region which causes conditions like a sore throat and neck pain.


Wisdom tooth : Typically pain from the teeth can radiate to other nearby structures in the oral cavity.

For example, pain in the wisdom teeth can lead to pain the throat , ear, jaw and other nearby teeth as well. Other symptoms include runny nose, fatigue, cough, and sinus pain. Avoiding such allergens and taking antihistamine, corticosteroi and decongestants will lessen the symptoms until the effects of the hay fever are gone. Most of the time, it is a symptom of allergies, a col or the flu. While a sore throat can be painful, it is usually not serious.


It creates a sore pocket of tissue that is filled with pus inside the mouth or throat. The pus is caused by a bacterial infection. The most common sign of a wisdom tooth infection is pain in the area.


In some cases, infected wisdom teeth may also cause pain in the entire jaw, neck and throat , as well as headaches. Along with the pain, a wisdom tooth infection might also cause sore throats and swollen lymph glands just under the jaw.
