Do you rinse your mouth after mouthwash? Should you rinse your mouth after using whitening strips? Why should you rinse your mouth after using Qvar?


When do you use mouthwash do you rinse before or after you brush? Is it better to rinse your mouth with water after you brush? We highly advise you to not rinse away the mouthwash with water as this will exclude any benefits the mouthwash could provide your oral health.

The whole goal is to make sure that you give the product a long enough time to work its magic. Make sure to spit and don’t think to rinse your mouth. But if you brush well and keep the plaque off of them and use that mouthwash as part of the package, you do get whiter teeth.

Some mouthwashes which claim to form protective shields and neutralise excess plaque acid work on the principal that mouthwash is alkaline, and traces of it left in your mouth react. You can do either, but you get the maximum benefit from most mouthwashes by not rinsing with water after. If you use a toothpaste with fluoride and drink water treated with fluoride, you do not need a mouthwash with fluoride.

Although it may take several weeks for your gum to fully heal, most dentists recommend that you refrain from rinsing your mouth with anything for a minimum of hours after your extraction. After this point, you should ideally rinse with only a warm water and salt solution four times a day until the healing process is complete.


Can I Use Salt Water to Rinse My Mouth Regularly? Many believe using salt water oral rinse regularly can be a cheaper and more effective way of achieving good oral health. Some dentists believe that while salt water is good to reduce inflammation after tooth extraction and for mouth sores, it may damage the tooth enamel if used for prolonged.


Generally speaking it is advisable not to rinse your mouth with water after using mouthwash.

The reason is that many mouthwashes include fluoride which can be washed away during rinsing. Instea simply spit out the excess mouthwash and leave the fluoride to do its work. In actual fact, if you do rinse out your mouth with water after brushing, you are getting rid of the fluoride from your mouth , which protects your teeth. Rinsing with a cosmetic mouthwash will loosen bits of food from your teeth, lessen bacteria in your mouth, temporarily reduce bad breath and leave a refreshing taste in your mouth. But these products can’t make any greater claim than that.


However, over time an oral saline solution may adversely affect the tooth enamel, causing decay. Salt water is also a good toothache aid. It depends on the type of mouthwash you have.


Now, as a good habit to practice, it is best to look at the label on the mouthwash and follow its. Spit the solution out after gargling.
